Will this help me make the cheer team?

It's very possible! This can help you increase your flexibility and gymnastics skills, both of which are necessary for cheering.
  • Question
How can I do an aerial?
    Community Answer
Have a solid cartwheel, the try to cartwheel and at the last minute pull your hands up. You can also try to keep your arms up in the beginning and then put them together.
  • Question
When doing the back walkover, how can you push your leg up?
    Community Answer
Rock your body while in a bridge position, then try to throw your leg up. Keep practicing!
  • Question
Can I do these even if I'm not flexible?
    Community Answer
Yes. The most flexibility you may need is in a front walkover or front handspring stepout, where back and leg flexibility may help out. But it's not a requirement.
  • Question
    What is a front walkover?
    Community Answer
It's like a front limber (handstand fall into a bride), but after the front limber you stand up on one foot.
  • Question
How can I do a handstand with a forward roll into the splits?
    Community Answer
You can either step-out and slide into the splits, or stand all the way up and slide out.
  • Question
How can I learn to do a back full?
    Community Answer
Watch Ronnie Street Stunts, and Jessie La Flair Parkour, on YouTube -- they both have tutorials for the back full. But you should really learn Parkour and Freerunning. I have been doing Parkour and Freerunning for over a year now and I am a pro Parkour athlete and Freerunner.
  • Question
Does it count if I roll to one side at the end?
    Alonah N. Elliott
    Community Answer
Technically, yes, it is still a front roll. Keep practicing and you will get it perfectly straight though!
  • Question
What if I can't push myself down out of my handstand into the front walkover?
    SmartTweenGirl
    Community Answer
You don't push yourself, you bend your legs. Make sure you can do a front limber before you try this.
  • Question
I can do my back handspring while being spotted, but cheer tryouts are in a week. How do I get over my fear of going back?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
Cheering squads want responsible people. What they do requires diligence, hard work, self respect, training hard and above all, safety. If you're going to rush into the back handspring, risking injury for lack of experience, you're not impressing anyone. Quite the contrary; you'll show recklessness, and they don't want that. Put emphasis on your dedication, on your training, and show confidence that you know you will get this move and many others. That will show you can be a valuable addition to the team.
  • Question
How do I come up from a backbend?
    Lynzie Powell
    Community Answer
The best way is to slowly lower your back onto the ground. Try to not do it too fast. Then you just come up from your sitting position.
