Yes, they eat cashmere sweaters and cardigans. If you aren't careful, the larvae can put a huge hole in a very expensive cashmere sweater. Put cedar blocks and lavender essential oil (open containers) on a shelf (this is also effective for keeping spiders out of the closet or drawer).

    Community Answer
Clothes moths larvae, either the webbing clothes moth or case making moth. Keep in mind it's the larvae of the moth that are causing the destruction. Although they do play a very important role in ecosystems by cleaning up all sorts of debris, they are wreaking havoc inside of people's homes.
  • Question
How do I get rid of moth worms in my carpet?
    Community Answer
First have to get rid of them anywhere else in your house/apartment. If the infestation is severe, like over years, they wil be in everything! Anything containing human or animal hair, skin oil, even tobacco. Then have the rug professionally cleaned if it's an area rug. Or possibly a steam cleaner if wall to wall carpet.
  • Question
How do I get rid of moth worms on my ceiling?
    Community Answer
Find where the infestation is - it's probably in a cupboard, a lamp, or some closed small environment. Once you do, clear out everything, throw away all the open bags and boxes and wash with one cup of bleach in nine cups of water. Don't bother with bay leaves - they are 100% ineffective.
