Review the rules of the road and read through the manual for the car you'll be driving. Get a good night's sleep and wake up with a good breakfast. Make sure that you use the bathroom once you get to the DMV as well. You could end up waiting a while to be called up, and it'll be rough if you have to go in the middle of the exam.

The best thing you can do is lead by example. Maintain good habits on the road, especially when your child is in the car with you. Your child is going to pick up on what you do in the car, and you'll teach them plenty about driving before they're old enough to apply for a permit just by being a model driver.
