    Expert Answer
This isn't actually something you should be actively trying to do. Employers will see through the fluff, and you only want to include quality information. You really want an employer to be able to extract the important information in 30 seconds. So if you have enough relevant experience to fill most of the page, don't worry about it expanding the resume. If you have no work experience whatsoever because you're in high school or something, try to apply to jobs that only require applications. Once you've got some experience under your belt, then you can put the resume together.

    Staff Answer
Recruiters typically seek out the highest-qualified applicants for executive-level positions. If they say you're underqualified, they might just mean that you're underqualified for the positions they're currently looking to fill. However, it might also be that they don't understand your qualifications or credentials. Find degrees equivalent to your own in the US that you can use for comparison. You might also check to see if your field requires specific licenses or certifications in the US that you don't have.

Look for American employers who hire people from your home country, or from the country where you earned your degree. Translate your grades into American grades (4.0 grade point scale) to make it easier for American employers to understand how you did in school. It can also be helpful to find out what the equivalent of your degree would be in the US and add that to your résumé.

  • Question
I live in Denmark. Is it possible for me to move to America, and what is one of the first things I have to do when I have decided to move?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
The first step is to apply for an entry visa. It helps if you have some money saved up, like a few thousand euro. Find out how long you can stay on each different type of visa. Once you physically travel to the US, start looking for a job there. In the first five years or so, you will likely not get a green card or work permit, so you'll have to return to Denmark a few times to stay in compliance with the visa rules. Finally, once you'll have worked in the US a couple of years, you can start to consider applying for a permanent visa and work permit. Ask your employer to back your application.
