You could hangout with other friends around the room. Just act as if that "elephant" isn't even there. Don't let that person ruin your day or night.
  • Question
How should I start a note when trying to catch up with old friends?

You could start by saying something like "I was just thinking about..." and then bring up a fun memory the two of you shared.
  • Question
What if they are in a different country?
    Isobel
    Community Answer
You could write letters, text, email, or use social media. Just because your friend is in another country doesn't mean you can't stay connected!
  • Question
How can I talk to my friend immediately if she doesn't have an iPad or cell phone?
    Community Answer
If you have her parents' numbers, you could call one of them and ask to speak to her. If not, you might just have to write a letter, but it won't be instant.
  • Question

    Jessica Purgason

If you live across the country, you can still have a good relationship! Try to keep in touch through social media, letters, souvenirs, or even postcards!
  • Question
What If I can't do 80 percent of the things on these lists? I have been banned from electronics.
    Community Answer
Is the ban temporary, because you're being punished? If so, maybe you could write them a regular letter and send it via snail mail, then do the electronics stuff later when you get them back. If the ban is long term or permanent, maybe you could try to bargain. Ask your parents if you can use a phone for an hour a day or even once or twice a week just so you can stay in touch with your friends.
  • Question
What if my parents say no to that?
    Community Answer
If your parent(s) disagree with you contacting friends or family, simply talk to them if you ask them whether or not to write, text, or phone people you care about. They should agree to some format of communication.
  • Question
What if I don't really have communication devices?
    Community Answer
If you see your friends at school, talk to them there and make plans to hang out after school, on the weekends, etc. My parents let me use their phones sometimes to FaceTime my friends, so you could ask yours if this would be an option.
  • Question
What if I don't use social media at all?
    Community Answer
You can call or text them, or you can set up times where you all hang out so that you can see them face-to-face.
  • Question
Can I get started by chatting with old friends who are online now?
    Community Answer
    Yes.
  • Question
How can I find my old friends? I don't have that many friends and I lost all my old friends. I'm lonely and I hate being lonely.
    Lara
    Community Answer
Try to find them on social media by searching and also asking people you do know to share the search around more widely. Also try your old school website to see if has a way to connect with former students. If you're successful at locating them, send them a message and introduce yourself. Hopefully they will remember you and then you can reconnect.
  • Question
How can I keep in touch with my close friend if he works a lot in the hospital? We only talk like every once a while every time I try to hangout with him he told me that he is busy working?
    Lara
    Community Answer
It is important to respect his career. Working in the hospital is an important job that can be very busy. If he has too much work to meet up with you, keep in touch via social media instead. This way, you can message him any time you like, and he can reply in his own time.
