QuestionDoes it take longer to learn a language the older you are?PimemorizedTop AnswererIt depends. When kids are little, their brain has more plasticity, and so it is often easier for them to learn new languages. As humans, we are born with the innate skill to understand grammar, and so younger kids are even able to split words when listening to languages they have never heard of before. This is a skill that declines the older we get, and so it ends up being harder to learn languages the older you are. However, if we heard this language constantly when we were younger, or if we had even learned a little bit of it when we were at that young age, it would be easier to learn it in the future, regardless of age.
