QuestionDoes the straw have to be made of glass?Community AnswerYes, otherwise you could inhale unhealthy byproducts of plastic.
-
QuestionIs there any difference in smoking the vaporizer with this or just smoking the substance?Community AnswerThere's a huge difference. Combustion or actual burning is what produces most of the carcinogens in smoking. By heating instead, you release the oils without burning the plant material left behind. Vapor was analyzed and found to be 98.1% cannabinoids. Smoke was analyzed and found to be 12% cannabinoids.

QuestionWould other people think it was lame if I used this to vape?Community AnswerOnly the privileged ones who have never had to improvise.
-
QuestionDo you need a shot glass? I saw a video with a jar.Community AnswerA jar will work as well, so long as your lid is the same size as the jar's perimeter.
-
QuestionWhat should I do with the straw?Community AnswerYou need the two straws: one is the choke and the other is the one you draw in. If you want to be able to draw air from an enclosed space, you need an intake. Then, you block it while you boil the product so vapor cannot escape. Once you are ready to drain the content of your vape into your lungs, you unblock it so you can have the air intake needed to actually draw the vapor out.
-
QuestionDoes it have to be thin glass?Community AnswerNo. In fact, it's better to be thick so it doesn't break due to temperature differences. It also prevents the glass from getting too hot.
-
QuestionCould I use something other than straws?Community AnswerYes, clear tubing about the size of a straw will do also.
-
QuestionIf I use two straws, do I need to inhale through one or both?Community AnswerOne, the longer of the two. The second, shorter straw is the "carb" where the airflow to inhale from a closed space is. If you didn't have that, when you inhaled in the lightbulb hard, you would shatter it.
-
QuestionWould metal straws work in a vaporizer?Community AnswerYes, they should work.
-
QuestionCan I put a vaporizer over a flame or oven until it bubbles? How do I know when it is ready to inhale?Community AnswerWhen it starts boiling or a vapor is present in the glass container. Try every minute or so.
-
QuestionIs it possible to use water as the substance?Community AnswerNo, it is not. But you can add a small amount of vegetable glycerin (VG) to thicken it and inhale it.
-
QuestionHow do I know when to vape when using a homemade vaporizer?Community AnswerPut a small amount of e-liquid in the bottom, and when you are ready to vape, put a lighter to the bottom of the improvised vape and hold your finger over the carb hole or straw. When the liquid is boiling, take your finger off the hole and inhale.
-
QuestionDoes the smoke from a vaporizer smell like the smoke from a cigarette?Community AnswerIt depends on what you put inside, but unless you have all the ingredients that are in cigarettes in your vaporizer, no, it shouldn't.
-
QuestionCan I use a metal straw?Community AnswerThat would be up to you. I personally wouldn’t use one, because of how hot it gets when the vape is ready, but if you think you can take the heat, go for it.
-
QuestionHow do I heat a vaporizer and what do I need to heat it?Community AnswerIf you are asking how to heat any of the vaporizers shown above, then with a lighter or match. If that is not what you are asking, google it.
-
QuestionCan I make a vape out of just a water bottle?Community AnswerNo. Plastic will melt when the flame from a lighter is used on the bottom of the bottle to boil/vaporize your oil.
-
QuestionCould I, as a last resort, use a white light bulb instead of a clear one?Community AnswerNo, light bulb coating is made from a metal called tungsten, which should be regarded as highly toxic. It would be very unhealthy and is not recommended.
-
QuestionWhat can I do if my hands are red because a bulb shattered in them?Community AnswerRun cold water over them. Make sure no glass shards broke the skin. If you think you have glass under your skin or bleeding a lot you should see a doctor or go to the emergency center at a local hospital.
-
QuestionWhat would be the most suitable way to heat the substance to create the vapor?Community AnswerAny heat source, an open flame works well, such as a lighter or a candle. You need heat for a little while so something like a match wouldn’t work well.
