    Expert Answer
Try sugaring - it's like waxing, but you make a paste from sugar, water, and lemon juice. Repeat the treatment every 6 weeks or so, and you should start to notice the hair becoming sparser and thinner.
  • Question
What if I cut it with scissors?
    Community Answer
Your hair grows underneath your skin, and grows out of the pores. Your hair will always be darker when first growing out of the pore because it hasn't been lightened by the sun. Cutting the hair will only cause your hair to grow back the same color.
  • Question
Can I use sunscreen to protect my skin from the sun after using the lemon juice method?
    Community Answer
    Yes. That is fine.
  • Question
Can I use permanent hair color for facial hair?
    Community Answer
Probably not. Permanent hair color kits are often harsh and could damage your skin; it would be safer to use one of the methods above.
  • Question
Is there any way I could remove my arm hair permanently, or at least make it less visible?
    Community Answer
You can bleach it to make it less visible, and laser hair removal offers long-term hair removal.
  • Question
I often used to shave my arm hair. After 3 years, it has started to grow very thick. I feel so embarrassed. How do I get my hair thinner like before?
    Community Answer
Try waxing it. Hot wax is great because it softens up your hair, and gradually it will get thinner. Wax at least 3 times a month. Another tip: after waxing, exfoliate well.
  • Question
Can I use a lime instead of lemon?
    Community Answer
Yes, but a lemon is going to be more effective.
  • Question
If I use the lemon method, will my skin always be sensitive to the sun, or just after applying it?
    Community Answer
It should only make your skin sensitive to the sun just after you've used the lemon juice.
  • Question
Can you use liquid ammonia instead of powdered ammonia?
    Community Answer
No, because this solution is too concentrated and could cause irritation or burns.
  • Question
    Can I use a green/unripe lemon instead?
    Community Answer
Yes, an unripe lemon should work too, although there might not be as much juice.
  • Question
Won't shaving make my arm hairs grow back longer, thicker, and darker?
    Community Answer
Not at all! Your arm hair will not come back any different than before they were shaved. The only reason they appear longer, darker, and thicker is because you are used to smooth, hairless arms.
  • Question
If I have light brown hair, will the lemon juice method work on me?
    Katyyyy
    Community Answer
Yes, but try to dillute it with water before applying. You have to go out in the sun, and it will take a while.
  • Question
How do I remove facial hair for my teenage daughter?
    Community Answer
My daughter had the same problem. We tried threading, which helped, but it hurt a little bit too much for her, so we did hot wax next, which was also effective and didn't hurt as much.
  • Question
Would the lemon juice trick work on very dark arm hair?
    Community Answer
No, arm pit hair is very coarse and you'd have to sit with your arms over your head in the sun for a long time to see any effect.
  • Question
Do you have to freshly squeeze the lemon?
    Community Answer
Yes! Freshly squeezed lemon would give you a better effect than old lemon.
