QuestionI tried explaining to my parents to avoid almost all things made from rainforests because it hurts rainforests, but they won't listen to me. What do I do?Bess Ruff is a Geography PhD student at Florida State University. She received her MA in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2016. She has conducted survey work for marine spatial planning projects in the Caribbean and provided research support as a graduate fellow for the Sustainable Fisheries Group. It can be difficult to get people to change their opinions especially if it will require them to change aspects of their lifestyle. Try finding one lifestyle change or activity that would be easiest for your parents to switch to instead of trying to get them to avoid everything all at once. You can add changes one at a time as time goes on. Do your best to set a good example and don't suggest that they do anything you yourself aren't already doing.

QuestionHow can I become a vegetarian if I almost always eat meat?Top AnswererYou can start by reducing how much meat you eat, for example by not eating meat one day of the week, and then making it two, and so on. This can prove to you that it is possible. One of the big reasons vegetarians and vegans crave meat is because they aren’t eating enough protein. You can get meat from other foods, such as beans, lentils, vegetarian or plant-based meat, eggs (unless you're a vegan), chickpeas, nuts and seeds. There are many vegetarian substitutes for if you crave the taste of meat.
