Sugaring removes the hair from the root each time. Over time, this makes the hair much finer and sparser. Some people have seen great results after only 2 treatments. Sugaring will provide the best results if maintained every 6 weeks or so.

    Expert Answer
In order to make your own sugar paste at home, you'll need sugar, lemon juice, and water. Those are the only ingredients to make sugar wax. It contains no chemicals or resin and needs less heat than traditional wax.
  • Question
How can I do this without a candy thermometer?
    Community Answer
You will have to check the color of the sugaring wax. If it's dark amber or a light brown, then the wax is ready. If it's lighter than that, than heat it for a few more moments until it has a darker color. Also, check the consistency of the wax; it shouldn't be gooey.
  • Question
Can I store body sugaring paste and use it after some time? Do I need to heat it again?
    Community Answer
You can store it in the fridge and use it again, but you will have to reheat it, then let it cool to room temperature again before using it.
  • Question
How can I soften the paste if I don't have a microwave at hand?
    Community Answer
Try a steam bath. Boil water in a much larger pot with a lid. Place the pan with the hardened "wax" in the steam, with the lid on the larger pan, for a few seconds at a time until it softens enough to stir. Add hot water a tiny bit at a time to get the consistency you need.
  • Question
How do I make colored sugaring paste?
    Community Answer
Just add a few drops of food coloring.
  • Question
Can this be used on the breasts?
    Community Answer
Yes, but tweezing them might be more effective.
  • Question
How long does this last before the hair grows back?
    Community Answer
Hair removal typically lasts about a month before growing back.
  • Question
Why is my sugaring paste always runny and super sticky?
    Community Answer
Try cooking it more to see if that helps. If that doesn't work, you may need to add more sugar.
  • Question
Can you use it on the back and rear end?
    Community Answer
Yes. Just make sure you don't apply too much paste or irritation may occur.
  • Question
What can I do in order to prevent sticking the paste to my fingers?
    Community Answer
You can put on a pair of gloves. The paste usually comes off when you give your hands a good wash.
  • Question
I made the paste, but it doesn't solidify enough to pull hair out. How do I fix that?
    Community Answer
Try heating up the sugar mixture longer, so it solidifies more effectively.
  • Question
How often should this be applied?
    Efficientspaz
    Community Answer
Use this two to three times a week, or only once a week if your skin is sensitive. Be careful, because too much can irritate your skin.
  • Question
After applying sugar, how do I remove it?
    Community Answer
You can just use your hands: grab one side of the sugar and flick your wrist downward to remove.
  • Question
What can I use instead of guar gum?
    Community Answer
Guar gum is optional, so you can leave it out and the sugar wax will still be effective.
  • Question
Can I use it on my upper lip area?
    Community Answer
Yes, it works just as well as (and is similar to) waxing, so it should work if you do it right.
  • Question
Can I use this as a substitute for waxing a mustache?
    Community Answer
Yes, sugaring is similar to waxing, so it should work if you do the process right.
  • Question
How do I keep the wax from hardening?
    Community Answer
I heat mine in a steam bath and simply leave the bowl/pan in the larger (steaming) pan while applying; it keeps it from going hard too fast. I'm thinking of getting a wax warmer, though, as this would probably be the best method.
  • Question
Is it okay if I don't use lemon or lime juice?
    Community Answer
No, as the acidity is an essential part in the mixture. The sugaring process won't work without it.
  • Question
Do I need to add lemon juice to the paste? Can I use sugar and water only?
    Community Answer
No, an acid is an essential part. You can substitute it for vinegar or lime juice, however.
  • Question
How can I fix paste that has solidified and is still tacky but can't be rolled into a ball?
    Community Answer
if it is overcooked, throw it away but if it has just completely cooled down, then rewarm it.
