To: panderson@business.com From: bwhite@business.com Subject: Extension of Leave Request Mr. Anderson, I hope all is well at the office. As you are aware, I’ve been out for the last week and a half recovering from an injury. At this point in time, I am still attending daily physical therapy sessions, and I am told I am making great progress. However, my doctor has informed me that returning to work this Monday as originally planned would be a mistake. According to him, my injuries are still extensive enough that I could make them worse due to the nature of my job. Because of this, I am writing you to ask if an extension of my leave would be at all possible. I know that you said I could take as much time off as I needed, but believe me when I say I am eager to get back to work. I would not be requesting additional time off if my doctor weren’t recommending it. My worry is that if I return to work, I could end up prolonging my injury, forcing me to leave once again. With an extended leave of maybe a week or so, my doctor says I should be well enough to return to the full capacity of my job. If you would like to discuss this further, please call me at any time. I am also available to meet you at the office. Thank you very much for your patience regarding this matter, and I hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely, Ben
