* Line up behind the ball. If you kick with your right foot, position yourself slightly to the right. If you kick with your left, position yourself slightly to the left. * Your shoulders should face your target as you approach the ball. * Your plant foot (non-kicking foot) should be 1.5 to 2 steps away from the ball when you make contact. * When you strike the ball, turn your foot to the side, rotate it down and hit the ball just below the base of your big toe. * Strike the lower part of the ball, but do not hit completely underneath it. Doing so will give you height, but not distance. * When you swing your leg back, keep it relatively low. * Point your shoulders in the direction you want the ball to go. * After contacting the ball, keep your follow through low as well. * Make sure to lean back when you follow through. Do not hunch over the ball.
