Send a thank you note
After your interview, thank the interviewer for their time and consideration. This will put you ahead of the other applicants that didn’t send a thank you note (or email).
Examples:
“Dear Ms. Winterson,
I learned a lot about the inner-workings of a bookstore and I am excited about the possibility of joining the team. Thank you for taking the time to sit down and talk with me. I look forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Annette”
“Dear Mr. Callen,
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to chat with me about the after school program position. It was great to learn more about the kids’ favorite activities. I look forward to hearing from you!
Have a good one,
Joanna”
Follow up
If you haven't heard back in a week, contacting the interviewer will show that you're dedicated and interested.
Examples:
“Hello, Ms. Harlinger. It's Diana, I was just wondering whether or not you’ve found someone for the weekend serving position. I'm still very interested.”
“Hey, Mr. Roca, this is Theresa (I interviewed for the host position last week). If the position is still available, I’m still very much interested in joining the team.”
