Bring it up at a time when you have their full attention.
“This weird thing happened to me the other day when I was on the computer and I don’t really know what to do about it.”
“Can I talk to you about something? It’s kinda hard to talk about and I don’t want you to take away my phone or laptop or anything but I just don’t know what to do.”
Tell them what’s going on clearly and openly.
“These kids from school keep posting all these pictures of me. They take them when I don’t know they’re doing it, like in class or at lunch, and then I get home and there’s all these awful pictures of me all over Instagram and on people’s Snapchat stories.”
“Every time I’ve posted a picture in the last few weeks, these girls comment on it just with laughing emojis, even when the pictures aren’t funny. It’s like they’re laughing at me or making fun of me, but I can’t tell them to stop, because they’re not even really saying anything.”
Tell them how the bullying makes you feel.
“I don’t even want to go on Instagram anymore because I’m scared of seeing another message.”
“It’s really embarrassing. I hate it. Everyone’s laughing at me but I don’t know what to do about it.”
Ask them if they have any ideas of what you can do.
“I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve told them to stop but they won’t. What do you think I should do?”
“I want to solve this by myself but I don’t know how, so I was wondering if I could ask you.”
