If you're using Waze to take a trip and realize that you need to stop somewhere, you can add a stopover to your route without cancelling your trip. This wikiHow will tell you how to do it.

Steps

  1. 1
Open up Waze. The icon will look like a text-message smiley face icon with wheels on a blue square.
  2. 2
Set up your trip (if you haven't already done so).
    • Tap the magnifying glass from the left-hand corner of the app.
    • Enter your location either by looking for the item's name, or it's address. Type each item in using proper USPS street notation , (abbreviations) listing addresses in this order: street address, city, state and, if necessary, ZIP code.
      • If a business name is easier to find, type that first. If it's not in the list after the entire name of the place has been entered, continue typing a comma and enter the address, or backspace out the name and type in the address instead.
    • Tap your destination.

  3. 3
Access the feature. Make sure you have the destination dialog box open. Look for the row of icons below the "Events on route" line. It'll be labelled "Add a stop". You may have to scroll up to find and access it.
  4. 4
Pick your stop type. Tap either the pin marked "P" icon (designating nearby parking lots/parking spots), or the gas-pump icon (to find nearby gas stations), the fork and knife (designating restaurants and diners) or the magnifying glass (to enter another address).
    • The magnifying glass can give you parking lots, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops and a whole lot more. To find a location, tap the three dot icon towards the top right of the menu.
    • Alternatively, you can enter an address in the "Add a Stop" box inside the magnifying glass menu.
    • Use the "Favorites" and "History" buttons to find saved or previously searched destinations.
    • Access the "Talk to Waze" button inside the magnifying glass trigger to search by using your voice.
  5. 5
Find and tap the destination you'd like to add as a stopover. If you searched using the magnifying glass, you might end up tapping a few more times to get through the entire database through filtering, or it might take you right through there so that the next tap will take you to the next destination - this will all depend on a variety of different reasons.
  6. 6
Tap the "Go" button and begin to drive to the location. Once you begin the drive, the route will take you to the stopover point. Once you reach the destination, Waze will change the route so that you can reach your final destination.
    • Only one stopover point is allowed per drive. After you reach the first stopover point, you'll be able to reset the point to something different if need be.
