Oranguru and Passimian are two Pokémon, brand-new for Pokémon Sun and Moon. Oranguru is a Normal and Psychic-type Pokémon, whereas Passimian is a Fighting-type Pokémon. While they are different Pokémon, the process for catching them is the exact same. If you have Pokémon Sun, you’ll be able to catch Passimian, whereas if you have Pokémon Moon, you can catch Oranguru. No matter which version of the game you have, this wikiHow will show you how to catch Oranguru or Passimian in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Steps
-
1Stock up on Pokéballs. Both Oranguru and Passimian have relatively low catch rates, so be sure that you're prepared with Great, or even Ultra Balls (make sure you bring multiple with you, in case your first attempt at catching one of these Pokémon fails).
- You can also bring a few Quick Balls with you if you'd like to attempt to catch Oranguru or Passimian at the very beginning of your encounter with them.
-
2Complete the Grass-type trial in Lush Jungle on Akala Island if you haven't done so already. Lush Jungle is the only known location where you can find Oranguru or Passimian in Pokémon Sun and Moon, and in order to catch Pokémon at a trial site, you'll need to have successfully completed that trial first.
- If you're having a difficult time completing the trial, try using Fire, Flying, Poison or Bug-Type Pokémon, since Grass is weak against these types.

3Walk around throughout Lush Jungle. Oranguru or Passimian can be found in almost any patch of grass in Lush Jungle. [1] X Research source However, their encounter rate is very low, so finding one may take you awhile, and you may run in to a lot of other wild Pokémon first. However, eventually, you should encounter Passimian if you're playing Pokémon Sun, or Oranguru if you're playing Pokémon Moon.
-
4Weaken the Pokémon's health to around half-health or less. This should make catching Oranguru or Passimian easier, despite their low catch-rate.
- If you're attempting to use a Quick Ball, however, be sure you throw it at the very beginning of the battle.
- Moves like False Swipe are great, because it'll be guaranteed to leave the Pokémon it's used against with at least 1 HP.
- Avoid Poisoning or Burning moves, unless you plan to catch Oranguru or Passimian quickly after that, since these types of moves will make them slowly lose health.
- Oranguru is weak to Bug and Dark-Type Pokémon, but immune to Ghost-Type Pokémon [2] X Research source , whereas Passimian is weak to Flying, Psychic and Fairy-Type Pokémon [3] X Research source , so be sure to keep this in mind.
-
5Throw a Pokéball once its health is low enough. As stated earlier, lowering its health to about half or less can be helpful with catching it. Eventually, you should successfully catch Oranguru or Passimian.Advertisement
