This wikiHow teaches you how to check your current heart rate from within your Apple Watch's Heart Rate app.
Steps
-
Unlock your Apple Watch. If your Apple Watch is locked, raise your wrist to wake up the screen, then tap TAP TO OPEN and enter your passcode.
- If your Apple Watch's display has notifications on it when you wake it up, first press the Digital Crown (the dial on the right side of the Watch's housing) to dismiss the notifications.
-
Press the Power button. It's on the right side of the Apple Watch's face, just below the Digital Crown. Doing so brings up a list of your currently open apps.Advertisement
-
Tap All Apps . This option is at the bottom of the screen.
-
Open the Heart Rate app. Find the Heart Rate app icon—which resembles a red outline of a heart on a grey background—and tap it. This will open the Heart Rate introductory page.
-
Scroll down and tap Turn On . It's near the bottom of the page.
- If you've already set up the Heart Rate app on your Apple Watch, skip this step.
-
Wait for your Apple Watch to read your pulse. You won't be able to see it well, but on the Apple Watch version 3.0 (or later), when the Watch is reading your pulse, it'll send a green beam of light from the pulse sensor into your skin, which will radiate back your heart rate information.
-
Review your current heart rate. You'll see a number at the bottom of the screen; this is your current heart rate in beats-per-minute (BPM).
- This number will automatically update every 10 to 20 seconds.
-
Scroll down to see your resting heart rate. This number represents the lowest constant heart rate that you've had while awake on the current day.
-
Scroll down again to see your walking heart rate. This number pertains to your average heart rate during walking time.Advertisement
