Armor is essential when it comes to surviving in Minecraft. Although you may have heard of the cool diamond armor, it is best to start of with something simple and easy, especially if you’re a beginner (or playing early in the game). If you don’t know how to craft some leather armor, then this article is the best place to find out how!
Steps
Part 1
Part 1 of 5:
Getting Wood
-
Find some trees. You will need some wood in order to craft a crafting table before crafting the leather armor. A crafting table is a table that has more space, or a bigger grid, for crafting. Look for a small forest. It doesn’t matter what kind of tree it is, as long it it has plenty of wood.
-
Break and collect the tree wood. In order to obtain the tree wood, you’ll need to hit and break the wood. To do this, point your cursor at the wood block you want to break. To hit and break it, click and hold the left side of your mouse. Eventually, the wood will break and fall to the ground.
- If you already have an axe, you can use it to chop up wood faster.

Collect the wood. Go to it, and it should go into your inventory. You will need at least four blocks of wood to create the crafting table.Advertisement

Part 2 of 5:
Getting Some Leather
-
Find some cows. When cows are killed, they drop either leather or raw beef. To find a cow, look for an open field. Cows often spawn there. You can also check some small forests. You will need 24 pieces of leather and, since cows mostly drop beef instead of leather, you will need up to 100 cows in order to craft your full leather armor.
- A more effective way to get leather is to make a cow farm. It's a faster way to get leather.
-
Kill the cow. To kill a cow, get close to one. Point your cursor at the cow. To hit and kill it, click and hold the left side of your mouse. Be aware that when the cow gets hit, it’ll try to run away. You may have to catch it and keep hitting it some more. Eventually, from all of the hits, it’ll die and either drop beef, or leather. If it drops beef instead instead of leather, that’s okay. Find another cow and hope for it to drop some leather.
-
Collect the leather the cows drop. If it drops leather, go to it, and it will go into your inventory. Your leather should appear in the result box. Put it into your inventory.Advertisement
