Windows 10 comes with many ways to lock your PC. However, if you want an even faster way, you can create a shortcut button on your desktop.

Steps

  1. Select Shortcut , which should be near the top of the drop-down list.

  2. Write %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation . Then click the Next button to proceed.
  3. You might just write "Lock," but you can use whatever you'd like.
  4. Find it on your desktop and click it. It should work.

      • You can also change the appearance of the icon: right click on it, choose Properties, click the "Change Icon..." button, browse for an icon (many are available at %SystemRoot%\System32\SHELL32.dll )
      • You can drag your shortcut icon to your taskbar so it appears there also
      • Locking a computer won't make you lose unsaved work.
