If you've ever used Grammarly on other browsers before and thought that you couldn't use it on Microsoft Edge, think again! Microsoft Edge includes an official Grammarly extension that gives you some peace of mind that your writing will be spelling and grammar mistake-free! This wikiHow will show you how to download and install it.
Steps
-
Open Microsoft Edge. Although Microsoft Edge could be in a bunch of different places on your computer - via Cortana, the Start menu or through a few other places - the most popular place is right on the taskbar. It looks like a darker e with a cut out of the top left corner. Select this icon.
-
Navigate to the extensions management area. Select the three-dots icon in the top left corner and select "Extensions". This should be about mid-way down the list.Advertisement
-
Ensure that "Grammarly for Microsoft Edge" isn't in the list already with its "G" icon and boldfaced name in the title line. If it is, you might have already downloaded and installed it, but might have hidden it with the flip of a switch.
-
Look for and download the Grammarly extension using Download and Install an Extension in Microsoft Edge . You'll need to look for "Grammarly for Microsoft Edge", but with the link supplied (a second ago), you'll find it easily with one quick click.
-
Click the "Get" button and allow "Grammarly for Microsoft Edge" to download. It can take a few moments, but it isn't very large.
- If you see "Install" instead, you'll know that you've installed it before and are re-installing it again. The process is just as simple and runs like a clean-install having never installed it before, after clicking this different button instead.
-
Turn it on. Click the "Turn it on" button from the dialog box that should show.
- If you don't get the request to turn the extension on, click the three-dot button which should send this dialog back for your management.
- If you still don't get it, don't fret. Open your Extensions list from the three-dots button then click the flip-switch just below the extensions name.
-
Refresh your page. When Grammarly is installed, it won't necessarily begin working automatically. If you don't see the red-dot icon in the bottom right corner of large text-boxes, refresh the page using F5 , or clicking the rounded Refresh button, press the Ctrl + F5 ( Ctrl + Fn + F5 for laptops), or you restart your browser.
- If it's still not showing, give your browser a restart. Save your work and exit out of the browser. This will allow all partially-running processes to stop and reload as a "clean load" the next time you open it.
