Nicole the Holo-Lynx is a main character in the Archie-published Sonic the Hedgehog comic books. She is the A.I. companion of Sally Acorn, and a hacker/strategist for the Knothole Freedom Fighters. First portrayed as a portable computer, Nicole evolved to project a holographic avatar of her own creation, in the form of an anthropomorphic lynx. If you want to try your hand at drawing this holographic feline, then scroll down to Step 1 to get started.

Steps

  1. A perfect sphere is not necessary. Try to do this in the middle of the paper so you have plenty of room, and aren't forced to cut out any limbs.
  2. These will be her ears.

  3. One horizontal line going across, and one vertical line going down. They should meet in the middle of the face. Use these lines to help in determining proportions.
  4. For a simple look, draw a thin, curvy line starting at the base of the left ear, and ending a few centimeters off the side of the face. Draw a swooping arc across the upper part of both ears and falling down to the near-shoulder area, and close them off.
  5. Her eyes are basic oval shapes, and should align over the horizontal line, equally spaced from the vertical line. The nose should go under the point the lines meet, and the mouth directly below that.
  6. Curves these down either direction to create her shoulders. On each shoulder, draw a circle. This should be about the width her arms will be. In between both shoulders, draw a larger circle for her torso, and for both shoulders, draw two more circles extending away from them. This will be the skeleton of the torso.
  7. As you extend it downwards, add in Nicole's mid-section and upper legs.
  8. Some depictions of Nicole picture her as having more feline-like paws, but she is also drawn with more traditional Mobian gloved hands.
  9. The sketch should start to look a bit cleaner.
  10. Sketch on her pupils, markings, cheek fur, etc.
  11. Fix any mistakes if you catch them, and finalize the look on the paper.
  12. Ink and color your drawing if you so choose. Feel free to share it online even.

      Tips

      • Try to make each circle of the arms the same size, at least on each arm.
      • The markings under Nicole's eyes are wide, condensed, downward-facing arrow shapes. She has one under each eye. The marking between her eyes is a narrow, upward-pointing arrow shape.
      • Nicole's fur is light brown, while her hair and markings are jet black.
