How to Draw a Cartoon Sloth

Illustrating the sloth as a cartoon is a great way to depict this unique animal. Follow the steps below on how one can draw a cartoon sloth.

Sketching

    Lightly sketch a circle. Split the circle into four equal parts.

    Draw a smaller circle within the left half of the circle. It should not go past the vertical line.

    Draw two circles that overlap one another within the smaller circle. The horizontal line should be intersecting the middle of these circles. Beneath them, draw one more circle that is the same size. The circles should all overlap to create a heart shape.

    Sketch a tree branch above the circle you drew in the previous step. It should be parallel to the horizontal line. The bottom left edge of the branch should be touching the top edge of the circle from step 2.

    Sketch two pairs of smaller circles slightly separated from each other within that branch. None of these circles should go past the bottom edge of the branch.

    Connect the circles from the previous step to the body of the sloth.

Outlining

    Outline the sloth's body using a pen or black marker. Pay attention to where the hands overlap the branch. Then, outline the branch as well.

    Trace around the three overlapping circles on the head to create a heart shape.

    Draw eyes, a nose, and a mouth within the heart shape. Feel free to add claws on the first and third hands.

Finishing

    Erase the guidelines and sketch marks. You should be left with everything you outlined in the previous part.

    Using a medium of your choice, color the sloth. For an accurate look, the face should be lighter than the rest of the body. Feel free to add detail or texture to the sloth and branch.
