Like YouTube and Android Messages, Google Maps has a night mode feature. A little different from other apps, Google Maps' dark mode feature only changes the navigation interface to a dark theme, not the whole app. This wikiHow will teach you how to enable navigation dark mode on Google Maps for Android.

Steps

  1. The app titled as “Maps” , typically found on your app drawer.
    • Make sure that you're running the latest version of the app. If you're not, navigate to Google Play to update it.
  2. You will see this icon at the top-right side of the screen.

  4. This option is right before the “Manage your preference” settings.
  5. Select the NIGHT option, under the “Colour scheme” option to enable the dark mode feature.
  6. Tap the button and select Start driving to view the Google Maps navigation.
    • You can turn off this feature by navigating to the same settings and hitting “Day” or “Automatic” instead.
