Want to learn exactly how to evolve Grubbin through all of its forms in Pokémon Sun and Moon? Once you reach level 20, Grubbin can evolve into Charjabug, which later evolves into the Bug/Electric-type Vikavolt. We'll walk you through Grubbin's evolution all the way through Vikavolt!

  1. You have a 10% chance of finding Grubbin on Route 1, Route 4, Route 5, and Route 6, so finding one may take a while. You'll find one at anywhere from level 3 to level 17, depending on the route in which you are searching. [1]
    • Net Balls are a good ball to catch Grubbin with since they work best on Bug and Water-type Pokémon. If you're at the beginning of the game, all Poké Balls have a 100% catch rate on Route 1 (note that this won't be the case later on in the game).
  2. Since Grubbin is a Bug-type Pokémon, it is super effective against Grass, Dark, and Psychic-type Pokémon.
    • If Grubbin keeps fainting in battle, turn on Exp. Share , which you can find in your bag. [2]
    • You can also give your Grubbin a Rare Candy to gain a level. [3]
    • Once your Grubbin is level 20, it will evolve into Charjabug.

  3. This is the last island you'll encounter in the game. You'll need to be inside the canyon to evolve your Charjabug. [4]
  4. This works at any level except for level 100, so you can have a Vikavolt as low as level 21.
    • You'll find Fighting-type Pokémon like Machoke, Dark/Flying-type Pokémon like Murkrow, Steel/Flying-type Pokémon like Skarmory, Rock-type Pokémon like Boldore and Lycanroc, Rock/Fairy-type Pokémon like Carbink, and Dragon-type Pokémon like Jangmo-o in the canyon. Battle these to gain experience and level.
    • You can also give your Charjabug a Rare Candy to gain a level. [5]

    How does Cosmog evolve?
    Top Answerer
Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem at level 43, and then either Solgaleo or Lunala (Solgaleo if you have Pokemon Sun, and Lunala if you have Pokemon Moon) at level 53.
  • Question
I want my Grubbin to evolve, but it keeps fainting. What do I have to do?
    Top Answerer
Try turning the experience share on and battling with your other Pokemon, or switching Grubbin out immediately when you go into battle.
  • Question
In Sun, I completed the whole Ultra Beast quest and I tried to get Necrozma. When I went to its spawn, no matter how long I tried, it would not spawn. Did I do something wrong?

    Community Answer
Use a max repel, make sure the Pokemon in the first slot in your team is under level 75, and run around in the grass in Ten Carat Hills' farthest hollow until Necrozma shows up.

      Tips

      • Since Grubbin will be a fairly low level, you can use Nest Balls on it to make catching it easier.
      • If Grubbin successfully calls for an ally while you're trying to catch it, you'll have to defeat one of the Grubbin before you can throw Poké Balls. Be prepared for the potential of a battle taking a while since this can happen multiple times in one battle. This won't be able to happen until you've beaten your first trial, so you don't have to worry about this happening if you're catching a Grubbin at the beginning of the game.
