My absolute favorite way to save money on gas is using Upside. I love Upside! It is an app that offers cash back on gas purchases, so every time I go to fill up my gas tank, I turn the app on, select the gas station that I'm at, tell it which debit card or credit card I'm using, and that's it. I've gotten anywhere between 1 and 30 cents off per gallon. Your earnings go into an account that you can access from your profile. I think I have 15 dollars in my account right now, just from getting gas. I love Upside–there are a lot of savings to be had there.

One pro tip I have is going to the Costco gas stations if you have a membership because they have the cheapest prices I've seen in my area. Sure, there's sometimes a bit of a line, but it's worth it if you're trying to be more frugal.

Another tip I have is pay with cash when you can. A lot of gas stations have discounted prices when you use cash instead of a card, so that might be a way to save a few cents.

So I normally shop at Kroger stores, and they have a fuel rewards program that adds up every time you buy something. If the gas station you're using accepts Kroger points, type in or scan your rewards card number at the pump. Depending on how many points you have, you can sometimes save like 50¢ a gallon.

I second checking for a rewards program at whatever gas station you prefer using since most places have them nowadays. Like Shell and Casey's both have cheap gas options and extra discounts when you sign up for rewards on their apps, so I'd check that first.

I've found that gas is usually cheaper the further away I am from a highway or major street. I think some gas stations bump up their prices when they're in a convenient spot so people spend more money. Try checking a couple blocks away to see if there are stations with cheaper prices.

I also use an app called Gas Buddy that shows all the gas stations and their prices so I know where it's cheapest to fill up.
