The spiritual meaning of 13 is pure. Sometimes, 13 gets a bad rap, like with Friday the 13th, but here the 1 represents ambition and being driven, asking, “What am I doing with my life? What can I do to make it feel like I'm winning?” Sometimes, like in business, we don't have control over certain things, but focus on what you can control—you can exercise, you can compete with yourself and hit 10,000 steps. Do that because then, the 1 would make you feel like you won in some way. The 3 means communication and expressing yourself.

Now, when you break it down, 1 + 3 = 4. You have to be careful. The number 4 is very direct and honest. It doesn't want to put up with anything. When we're honest and confrontational, there can often be blowback. That's why I teach people: if you're born on the 13th and you already have that 4, take a time-out. You don't always have to answer or be so direct in the moment. You can say, "Give me a moment, I'll get back to you." Be polite to avoid conflict.

The spiritual meaning of 13 is complex. 1 and 3 is 4, but in numerology, 13 isn’t a pure 4, but a 4 with 2 components. In numerology, 4 represents structure, method, reliability, discipline, long-term planning, goals, advancing step by step, security, and rigidity. But 13 is a more complex number because it's the child of the 1 and the 3, so it's got the kind of leadership, innovation, and the striving forward and originality of the 1. It’s also got the ideas of living in the moment and the healing and the childlike innocence of the 3. The 1 can bring it that ability to take risks, which could empower it because then it can use all of its ability to build, but not safely. It adds some boldness and some courage and some innovation. If you combine that with the “enjoying yourself” energy of the 3, which symbolizes taking life as it comes and having fun along the way, then it's a great combination.
