Blogger blogs are often open for anyone to see and share. However, sometimes you might only want to share a blog you've written with certain people, and not want it to be listed in public search results. If you'd like to create a Blogger blog that can only be seen via the blog owner's link, continue reading this article.
Steps
-
Create the blog , if you haven't already done so. From the main blogger.com (Blogger) page, log in to your account with your Google credentials, then click the blog drop-down button just below the Blogger icon in the top left corner of the screen and select "New Blog..." fill in the title and address, select a theme and click "Create blog".
-
Open the settings for the blog. Locate the menu bar at the left side of the page and click "Settings". This should be directly underneath the "Theme" option and should have a bigger space underneath it which has the "Reading List" option directly under that big space.Advertisement
-
Click the "Basic" option in the drop-down menu.
-
Locate and click the "Edit" button to the right of the option for "Privacy", if it says "Listed on Blogger. Visible to search engines."
-
Determine how much privacy you want. Check the "No" box for "Let search engines find your blog?"
- You may choose to keep the option to "Add your blog to our listings".
-
Click the "Save changes" when set. This will update your settings for the blog,
-
Find your blog address. This is the link you'll need to send your viewers so they can see your content. If you need to adjust this link, there's an edit button inside the textbox to adjust this link to the right of the "Blog Address" label. It should end with blogspot.com.
-
Look at "Blog Readers". Below the blog address is a selection showing how public your blog is. If it says "Public", you'll need to change it to something more "by link only".
- If it says "Private (only blog authors)", everybody that is an author will have access to the blog, but nobody else.
- If it says "Private (only these readers)", you'll need to supply some contacts via email address you'll input, or select some readers from your email's contact list via the form Blogger gives you access to via this page.
