Every year, Wikimedia contributors from Wikipedia to Commons participate in an election to determine which volunteers shall have steward access. Stewards are trusted users who have access to tools that allow them to manage cross-wiki issues, including the removal of rights, the use of rights on projects without users with those rights, the renaming of users, etc. This wikiHow will show you how to vote for stewards in the steward elections.

Meet the eligibility requirements. To participate in steward elections, you must have at least 600 contributions across all Wikimedia wikis before 1 November 2024 and at least 50 edits between 1 August 2024 and 31 January 2025. Only registered users can participate in steward elections.
- Voting begins on 8 February 2025 and ends on 28 February 2025. Only users that are eligible to vote between this time period can vote.
- To determine your eligibility, enter your username on this page . It will tell you if you are eligible to participate in steward elections.

Locate the steward elections page. To do so, go to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SE . This page will automatically redirect to the most recent steward elections, but if it doesn't, go to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Stewards/Elections_2025 .Advertisement

Review each candidate's statements. To do so, go to the Index section, then click on "All Candidate's statements" . This will take you to a long list of candidate's statements. You can review each one manually or skim that page for a general gist of each candidate.
- You can also review a particular candidate's statements by clicking on their username in the table underneath.

Ask questions (optional). If you have a particular question for a candidate, open the question page and post your question there. You can ask questions for all candidates or for a particular candidate. Make sure to limit it to two per candidate.

Cast your vote. When you are ready, click on "Yes", "No", or "Neutral" to open the candidate's voting page, then click on the big Vote button at the top of the page. Click on "Yes", "No", or "Neutral", add a comment, and click on Vote .

Wait for the results. The results for the elections will be posted after 28 February 2025. To be elected a steward, a candidate must receive at least 30 support votes with an 80% support ratio.

Consider confirming existing stewards . This is where you will give feedback on the performance of existing stewards. You can use {{keep}} to suggest keeping the steward or {{remove}} to suggest removing them from their position. Consensus will determine whether an existing steward will get to keep their role.
