You can test your ADT alarm system in two ways: through a sensor test or through a communications test. A communications test ensures that the alarm system can transmit alarm notifications to the ADT monitoring centers when needed. You should perform a communications test monthly to make sure that ADT can receive notifications and dispatch emergency services in a timely manner. This wikiHow will show you how to do so. -
3Trigger a sensor. For example, open a window, walk by a motion sensor, or bang near a glass break detector.
-
4Let your alarm sound for at least two minutes. This is enough time for the alarm to be transmitted to ADT.
-
5Check the MyADT website or call ADT to see if the alarm was successfully reported. If it was not, then call ADT for service.
-
6Take your alarm system off of test mode. To do so, call ADT or visit the MyADT website and click on My Alarm > Systems Management.Advertisement
