If you're going for a traditionally masculine look, you kind of want to angle your contour lines downward. Men tend to have slightly downward-facing features, so this is a great way to subtly play up those masculine features.

We call this the "makeup-less" look. So in this case, less is really more. You really don't want to add a lot of makeup because the more you add, the easier it will be to see. Stick with the skincare, a little concealer, and maybe some clear lip gloss or light mascara.
  • Question
Is there any way to make girly-shaped eyes look more masculine?
    Community Answer
Shade all around the eyes (basically the entire socket) with darker skin-tone makeup. "Male" eyes are usually set deeper in the head than "female" eyes.

I'm a girl but I want to look like a guy. This wikiHow didn't really help; can I get some other advice?

Do a search for a contouring chart by Lee Scion that shows you how to contour your face for a more feminine or masculine look.
  • Question
How would I be able to alter the lips?
    Community Answer
You may want to make your lips look less full, so you can use concealer to mask the normal line of your lips and make them look thinner.
  • Question
Are thin, chiseled cheekbones considered masculine?
    Emma Longwell
    Community Answer
They can be masculine, but a lot of girls have chiseled cheekbones as well. Most men try to have a chiseled jawline while girls focus on cheekbones, but don't worry about those stereotypes.
  • Question
Will this still work if I accidentally make myself look like a girl?
    Community Answer
I guess that would depend on what the final result looked like. Some people might not think it was very masculine, but others might think it's masculine of you to embrace feminine characteristics. Just get creative and find whichever makeup style makes you feel good!

To make a black/gray beard, you'll need a grayish-blue (more on the blue side), black, and white cream paints/face paints, water- or alcohol-activated paints, an sfx stippling sponge, and water or alcohol if you're using special paints. Lay down a light layer of the blue-gray paint, then stipple black and white paints over that to create stubble.
  • Question
Is there a way to make my lips look manlier?
    Community Answer
Use a lighter color - maybe a light pink or red.
  • Question
How can men look gaunt with makeup?
    Community Answer
Ashy looking contour is great for this. Try going for a more cool-toned, grayish brown contour shade as opposed to a warm-toned brown. Contour your cheekbones and jawline and make it sharp, but also blend it in.

  • Question
I tried to make my lips look paler for a more masculine effect, but it looked glossy, and powder was uncomfortable and just made it shimmer. Any advice?
    Daphne Lamesch
    Community Answer
Leave your lips alone. If you really are trying to look masculine, then just let it be. Not many men actually even attempt lip makeup. If you are really set on doing your lips, then try just a matte lipstick that is a color lighter than your hand.

I’m about ready to cosplay a young boy for my channel, but I have a little bit of a baby face. I’m unsure whether to bring out very little features or no features at all.
    Community Answer
Assuming you are a girl, your face is naturally a bit more feminine and softer already, so this is nothing you have to bring out additionally if you want to cosplay a boy with a young face. Rather focus on enhancing the masculine features (jaw, chin, eyebrows) to show clearly that you are cosplaying as a boy.
