In order to install RAM, push down on both tabs then align the notch with the notch on the socket. Push the RAM stick down with both hands until you here a click, then make sure both tabs are back up into place.

I bought a new RAM after the old one was damaged, but my laptop won't start. Can you please help?

You need to check the RAM type. Certain old motherboards are not compatible with newer RAM modules. This is especially true for laptops. Best way to buy RAM is from an authorized dealer, using the specifications on the manufacturer's website. If you have done all of this, then the issue could be improper seating of the RAM on the board, or the RAM was faulty from the start. If you have purchased it recently, you may be able to get a new one on warranty.
