Yes, it's a good idea to cross train. On days between your weightlifting workouts, do cardio to help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals. For example, you might go for a hike, swim, or do plyometrics.
  • Question
I am skinny, and I want to get stronger. Any advice?
    Community Answer
Add more protein to your diet in the form of lean meats, beans, eggs, and protein shakes. Emphasize weight-lifting over cardiovascular exercise, which tends to burn more calories and will make it harder for you to bulk up.

Eat a banana or Greek yogurt. Carbs are your pre-workout fuel. Just time it correctly. Eat a banana 30 minutes to 1 hour before you train in the morning. Remember to hydrate as well before, during, and after your work out. You want to drink 2-3 glasses before you begin. During your pre-workout warmup, drink a cup or 2.

  • Question
Is yogurt good for someone who is overweight and wants to start losing?
    AbigailAbernathy
    Top Answerer
It depends, be careful with the labels. Yoplait Greek Fat Free yogurt sounds healthy, but if you look at the label, you'll see 20+ grams of sugar. Your best bet is Dannon's Oikos brand of yogurt with anywhere between 6-9 grams of sugar per serving, 15-17 grams of protein, and 3-5 grams of fiber.
  • Question
I am skinny but have a beer belly and contain less than 20% fat. I want to gain muscle and have six pack abs. Advice?
    Raphael Key
    Top Answerer
Focus on strength gain first and foremost. Eat a protein heavy diet while keeping plenty of carbs and vegetables in there. Try a routine, like strong lifts 5x5. If you build strength and muscle, then your appearance will change and the beer belly will go.
