  • Question
Can I use the saved game trick if I accidentally kill one of the legendary dogs?
    Community Answer
Yes, you can this method. It's called soft resetting and is perfect for catching those legendaries.
  • Question
Why is my National Dex not showing the legendary dogs?
    Community Answer
You have to encounter them once to save their location on the National Pokedex.
  • Question
What do I do if I find all 60 different Pokemon before beating the elite four?
    Community Answer
Just try to beat the elite 4. If you do it, the names of the creators will appear on screen. Simply wait until the credits are done. When the game restarts, chose your active file to load, and Professor Oak will come to you and ask if you want to do another quest for him. Choose to accept the journey, and you and your rival obtain the upgrade for the pokedex, the National Dex.
  • Question
Can I catch all the Legendary Dogs in FireRed if I have all three starter Pokemon?
    Community Answer
No; the game goes by which starter you began the game with, so having acquired more through trading or cheating will not make the other Legendary Dogs appear.
  • Question
Do I only need to beat the Elite Four once?
    Community Answer
Yes. You also must have owned 60 kinds of Pokemon because then Prof. Oak will give you a national Pokedex, and Raikou is located at the national Pokedex.
  • Question
Do I have to get the Unknowns to get the dog? I have Xharizard and have beaten the Elite 4, and gotten 60 Pokemon. Is this enough?
    Community Answer
As long as you have the National Pokedex and have beaten the Elite 4, you can catch the dog. You don't have to have the Unknowns, you just need 60 Pokemon.
  • Question
Can I go back to the 1, 2, and 3 islands?
    Community Answer
Yes, but you have to go to Vermilion City and down to the port where the SS Anne was and choose which of the three islands to go to. Another cool thing you can do is go up to the top of, I think 2 island and, depending on which starter you chose, it will teach it a very powerful move.
  • Question
What level should my pokemon be to beat the elite four in Pokemon Fire Red?
    Community Answer
Make sure your starter is around level 60 and try to get all the others above 40. Try to catch the legendary birds and bring lots of max potions and max revives.
  • Question
If I have kept all the three starter Pokemon by cheats, then which of the legendary dogs will appear?
    Community Answer
It depends which one you picked at the start. If you cheat the starters in after you choose a starter, it will be the one you picked from Oak.
  • Question
Is it a better idea to chase them using the map on your Pokedex or switch between routes and ambush them?
    Community Answer
The place they go is completely randomized so they can end up in the same place twice, but they are no likelier to be there than anywhere else. I'd recommend sticking with the same location and just going in. If (s)he's not where you're at, try again.
  • Question
Can you catch the legendary dog with 13 ultraballs?
    Lugia2453
    Top Answerer
    Maybe, if you get lucky.
  • Question
Are there any other Legendaries in Pokemon without hacks or cheats?
    Community Answer
Yes, but they have a fixed position. You will find Zapdos in Powerplant, Moltres in Mt. Ember, Articuno in Icefall Cave, Ho Oh and Lugia in Navel Rock, and Deoxyz in Birth Island. Mewtwo is a long process, you have to hand ruby and sapphire to Celio to find in Cerulean Cave.
  • Question
Why can't I find Suicine in my Pokedex when I already have gotten the national and caught Mewtwo?
    Community Answer
Have Pokemon only up to/at lv 50 and use max repel. Keep koing on routes (like on vermillion and route 1) until you find Suicine.
  • Question
If I kill Ray Quaza, is there any way to get it back?
    Community Answer
No, once a legendary is dead, it's dead. Try saving beforehand every time you fight a legendary. Then, if you do kill it, just turn the game off and reload it.
  • Question
Can I capture more dogs after capturing the first one?
    Community Answer
No. Each account is only allowed one legendary dog. In order to get more dogs, try creating more accounts and then trading them to your original account.
  • Question
Is it possible to catch Suicune and Raiku in the same game?
    Community Answer
No. To be able to encounter Suicune or Raikou in your game, you need to have chosen Charmander or Squirtle as a starter, respectively. It is possible to trade one of them into your game from someone else who has chosen a different starter from yours.
  • Question
"Save the game before battling the legendary dog just in case it faints or uses Roar during battle." How do you save before the battle? When do you know when you will run into it?
    Community Answer
Check the Pokedex to see if it's on your route, and then save the game if it is. The game doesn't need to be saved immediately before the battle - you can't predict precisely when that's going to happen - just save it before you go looking for the dog.
  • Question
What do I do if I can't find the pokemon in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen?

No. If you KO a legendary. they are gone.
  • Question
    Where is the national Dex?
    Community Answer
It is an attached upgrade to the regular Pokedex. You need to beat the elite 4, then go into your Pokedex; the upgrade should be automatic.
  • Question
Where can I find Entries after using the max repel?
    Community Answer
Anywhere. All the legendary dogs pop up in random locations, so there is no specific place they appear.
  • Question
If I use Fly, will that affect the legendary dog's position?
    Community Answer
Yes, Fly will affect the dog's position.
  • Question
If I put my starter Pokemon in a PC because it's above level 49 will I still encounter a legendary dog?
    Blubb lé Blubb
    Community Answer
It doesn't matter where it is, only the fact that you chose it will decide the "legendary dog Pokemon" you encounter. Even if you'd release your starter, you can still encounter one.
  • Question
What is the rate of encounter with the legendary dogs?
    Community Answer
The place they go is completely randomized so they can end up in the same place twice, but they are no likelier to be there than anywhere else. I'd recommend sticking with the same location and just going in. If it's not where you are, try again.

  • Question
Can I keep resetting after trading items from different Pokemon games?
    Community Answer
No. It is not possible because different Pokemon games cannot be linked to each other.
  • Question
Can I catch the legendary dogs if I accidentally knock them out in Pokemon?
    Community Answer
If you saved the game after you knocked the Pokémon out, then no. But if you didn't save the game after the battle, then restart your device and it will go back to where you started before the battle.
  • Question
Do the Legendary Dogs just show up?
    Community Answer
Once you beat the Elite Four and the Champion for the first time and catch 60 different species of Pokémon, one Legendary Dog (depending on your starter pokemon - Raikou shows up if you picked Squirtle, Entei shows up if you picked Bulbasaur, and Suicune shows up if you picked Charmander) will become a potential wild encounter. The route/area that the Legendary Dog shows up in is randomized, however, every time you change areas (enter a building, a cave, a new route, etc.).
  • Question
What does it mean if my starter is level 78?
    Community Answer
If the first Pokémon in your party is level 78 and you intend on using max repels to find Raikou/Entei/Suicune, then you will not encounter them. However, if you mean your actual starter Pokémon (Squirtle/Bulbasaur/Charmander) being over level 78, then you should have a Pokémon under level 50 as the first in your team lineup when you use max repels to find your respective Legendary Dog. You can still have your over-level 78 starter in your party, just not first in line.
