  • Question
Can I feed my frog dead crickets?
    Community Answer

  • Question
Why does my white tree frog have narrow eye pupils?
    Community Answer
Generally, the pupil size depends on the lighting. The pupils tend to get bigger at night and in low light, and narrow in bright light. If you're wondering about the slit shape of the pupil, this is common in nocturnal animals (including cats, who are naturally somewhat nocturnal). In predators, like cats and snakes, the pupils are usually vertical, which helps with gauging depth and narrowing in on their prey. In prey, like some frogs and toads, they tend to be horizontal, which helps expand their field of vision and keep them aware of their surroundings.

  • Question
Can White's tree frogs eat anything other than insects? Is it good to have a variety?
    Amy Harrison
    Top Answerer
A frog's diet (in captivity) consists primarily of insects, which can be sprinkled with a calcium or D3 powder to provide a higher nutritional value. They can eat a variety of insects, such as crickets, flies, mosquitoes, and grasshoppers; however, it's important to ensure that they are of a reasonable size for the White's tree frog to easily digest.
  • Question

  • Question
Will using a humidifier with distilled water make my White's tree frog sick?
    Amy Harrison
    Top Answerer
Distilled water should never be used; it lacks minerals and salts, which can result in harming your frog with excessive use. Bottled water is considered the safest option, as it contains added natural minerals and salts. Tap water can be used, but is suggestive to sit out for 24 hours for the chlorine to dissipate. Tap water can vary in its water content, depending on which country you come from and which system your water comes from.
  • Question
Are waxworms a good option, too?
    Amy Harrison
    Top Answerer
Waxworms tend to be on the larger size compared to mealworms and other insects. Ideally, you should be feeding insects that are 15% of your frog's body size; otherwise, they may be too big for your frog to safely digest. Most waxworms that are sold from pet stores are of a larger size. Opt for 'lesser' waxworms, which are smaller, if you plan on feeding them these grubs.
  • Question
    Can they have jelly pots?
    Community Answer
No, jelly pots might have too much sugar in them. Instead, try giving the frog something like crickets/mealworms.
  • Question

    FutureHow

  • Question

  • Question
I feel like the tank pictured is too small. Is that true?
    Elizabeth Vosburgh
    Community Answer
The pictured tank is very small. However, it's an artistic interpretation to give you an example of an acceptable habitat. If the tank were bigger compared to the drawing of the frogs, you wouldn't be able to see them. The pictures in this guide aren't meant to be drawn to scale, so the tank you purchase in real life should be much bigger compared to the frogs than the one shown in this guide, and the frogs should have much more space if you buy a 15-20 gallon tank.
