  • Question
My gecko has a scrape on the front of her face, how can I help her?
    Spencer Kirkhope
    Community Answer
If the wound is open, try to remove any debris from the wound and clean it. Schedule an appointment with a vet ASAP. Check its eyes. If an eye is hurt, it could cause lots of trouble in the future, especially with feeding. When feeding, try to make it as easy as possible for it to get the food, guide crickets toward it, etc. Follow whatever further instructions you get from the vet.

My gecko got a scratch on her back from a humidity hide. What do I do? I don't think it's infected, but how do I tell?
    Community Answer
First, remove and replace the hide to avoid further injury. Check if the wound is deep. If it is just a scrape, just keep an eye on it (look for swelling, redness, pus, etc.), and do not handle it as often. If you are very worried, you can also bring it to the vet or a reptile expert.

  • Question
My cat scratched my albino gecko, how do I treat his injuries?
    Spencer Kirkhope
    Community Answer
Take him to a vet when you get the chance. If you don't already have one, buy a lid for your enclosure to keep the cat out. Feed your gecko about 2 more of whatever you normally feed him for the extra energy to regenerate that tissue. Make sure he has access to a humid hide as this will help stop a scab from scarring.

How do I treat a broken toe for my leopard gecko?

  • Question
My gecko's body (except his head, tail and legs) is almost flat and wide. But he only weighs 40 grams. What should I do?
    Community Answer
Not unusual; leopard geckos are not too large. They store food in their tails, so if this is fat, yours should be fine. The best food for them is live food; they will eat crickets, but the favorite (and easiest to keep) is mealworms. They are easy to come by, your local pet shop should have these. Also, make sure that you are giving them vitamins, especially calcium without D3, and make sure you are watering them correctly. No tap water - it contains chlorine, which is bad for the lizard. Use only well water, easy to find in stores.

  • Question
I have an adult female gecko and a two month old female as well (which I just got) they arent housed together but I have introduced them and since my adult gecko won't eat and seems to be sad. Help?
    Community Answer
Try rearranging his terrarium. Often leopard geckos get bored and just need a change in scenery. If this does not help, consider if she is eating properly? Is she always sleeping, or awake at night? They are nocturnal animals so if they are asleep in the daytime, that is normal.

  • Question
My leopard gecko drags her front foot on the ground. This has been going on for a while. What do I do?
    Jaida Amar
    Community Answer
The best thing to do is go to the vet but for now check if his foot see if it looks like it's broken. If it starts to swell up, then take him in to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Swollen legs can be a sign of an injury, infection, or an underlying medical issue.
  • Question
My gecko is very underweight, I started mixing up calcium with water and mushed meal worms to hand feed her. I noticed a difference in her weight almost immediately, was this the right thing to do?
    Community Answer
Yes but too much calcium at once can be fatal, so keep doing what you are doing but put half as much calcium once he/she reaches slightly under normal weight.
  • Question
I recently rescued a gecko, and he had stuck shed on his toes. Some of the shed is so tightly bound on there that it can’t come off, what do I do? Also some of them have bones sticking out?
    Snipersan The Cheetah
    Community Answer
Don't try to peel the skin off; it could detach the toe. Try soaking the gecko in 1/5th inch of water to loosen the skin. The "bone" sticking out is probably a claw. Some people have no idea that geckos have claws.
