Alternatively, you can use a cartographer villager, and he will offer you an ocean explorer map as a second tier trade. If you are in creative mode, you can always use the /locate command.

An item frame can be crafted with 8 sticks and 1 leather in a crafting table. Place the leather in the center of the crafting grid, and place the 8 sticks in the 8 slots around it.
