Don't bulk up your résumé with fillers. Don't be nervous if you have a short résumé. Managers only want the most important information from your job experience. If you add too many fillers to make it two or three pages, you might lose your audience. Also, don't lie about anything. Don't inflate your experience by saying you have three years of involvement in something when you really have three months. Or say that you went to an Ivy League college when you really went to a state college. These days, it's very easy for hiring managers to research you and find out the truth.

Include information about your education, work experience, and skills. Also, include an interests section. If you love surfing in Australia, you're a well-known DJ, or you have any other fun hobby, add it to your résumé. Interest sections humanize you and make you more interesting, even if it's only one sentence. Add a summary or objective statement, too. Objective statements help managers who are already grappling with too much information understand faster what you're trying to do. Lay out where you've been, where you want to go, and what you're good at.
  • Question
Should I add the times I am available? If yes, wherein the resume should I add it?
    Community Answer
There is no need to include your availability in your resume. That's something you'll discuss if granted an interview.
  • Question
Should the resume be printed when submitting it?
    Community Answer
Yes. Resumes should be typed and printed as much as possible to gain higher odds of hiring. Most of the time, handwritten pieces appears unprofessional and tend to have illegible handwriting styles. Printed documents not only look professional and clear, but tend to be more error-free.
  • Question
I have a good handwriting, can I hand-write my resume?
    Community Answer
You could, but it is always preferred to have a typed or printed resume.
  • Question
Should I include my age in the resume? If so, where and how would I put it in?
    Community Answer
Yes you can add your age into the resume but it is not essential. If you do add your age, place next to your name or contact details.
  • Question
If my child is 14 should she still do a resume?

    Top Answerer
Preferably yes, it likely would still be worthwhile to create a resume which can be further refined and added upon later on in life.
  • Question
What should be in a resume?
    Mzm555
    Top Answerer
Name, address, phone number, date of birth, relevant skills and work experience, etc as per the article. The only thing that probably shouldn't be in your resume right off the bat are your references contact details - these ideally should be provided at the interview stage. In your resume simple state "References available upon request."
  • Question
What do you do if you don't have any references?
    Mzm555
    Top Answerer
See if you can ask a trusted teacher, relative, adult friend, etc... If you really can't find any references at all you can simply state this and see how you go - its understandable teenagers wont have many professional work references, however its better to try provide at least one personal reference if this is the case.
