After you create your waves, you can spray your hair with a light hairspray or salt spray. This will add texture and help your curls hold longer.
  • Question
My hair always feels dry after I curl it. What is wrong?
    Community Answer
You've either left it on too long or it's just like that. It's normal for hair to feel dry after curling it with heat, so don't worry about it. Just make sure you take really good care of your hair afterward.
  • Question
Do I roll the sock to make a donut shape?
    Hanji Zoe
    Community Answer
Yes. It should look like a store-bought hair donut, but with a sock instead.
  • Question
Why does my hair fall out when I curl it?
    Community Answer
When you put heat on your hair often, your hair will become damaged and fall out. Think about it, when you apply too much heat to a piece of clothing, it'll corrode, rip, or tear. So that's what hair usually does too. Research some non-heat options for curling your hair.
  • Question
What is a good way to curl hair with nothing but a curling iron?
    Community Answer
Wet your hair until it's damp, then put a headband on your head. Twirl hair aroud the headband. Again wet your hair. Sleep with your hair in a bun or two if your hair is longer.
  • Question
Do I have to wash my hair before making T-shirt curls, or can I just wet it?
    Community Answer
It's best to wash your hair, but you could just wet it.
  • Question
How do I get my curls to stay if even hairspray doesn't work?
    Community Answer
If you're using a curling iron, use alligator clips or bobby pins to hold the curl all together (google image search "pinned curls," and that will give you the general idea). Spray a generous amount of hairspray on each pinned curl, then only let the clips/pins out after your hair is completely room temperature again. If even that doesn't work, I've seen stylists put hairspray on the strand and THEN put it on the curling iron, then pin it and spray again. But that can cause a lot of damage to both the iron and your hair, so be very careful with that method.
  • Question
How do I curl my hair with a hair straightener?
    Community Answer
Get a flat iron and put it at the top of your hair. Twist the iron at your wrist and go down to your tips. Don't be too slow when doing it, as that can cause you to burn your hair.
