    Find the common denominator or the bottom. Let's say: 1/4 + 3/7. The denominators are 4 & 7, and we have to try to make them the same. Multiply 4 by 7 to get 28 and 7 by 4 to get 28 that would be 7/28 + 12/28 which equals 19/28.
