Determine where the light is coming from. Highlight the areas of the face and clothes that the light directly hits with a light color or eraser. Shade the areas blocked from the light with a darker color or with more pressure. Also highlight the high areas (tip of nose, shoulders, tops of cheeks) and shade the lower areas (neck, beside the nose). Blend your shading and highlights with a blending tool, such as a blending stump. If you don’t have a tool, you can fold up a tissue into a small square and use that. Your drawing will now look much more realistic!
