    Expert Answer
Fresh dill lasts for about 2-3 days—just be sure to store it in a plastic bag lined with a paper towel.
  • Question
Why is it that microwave-dried dill won't last as long as air-dried dill?
    Michele
    Top Answerer
Microwave drying is imprecise at best. Air- or oven-drying works better, especially for delicate herbs like dill. And dill being so delicate, before it has a chance to dry out in the microwave, it may cook. This releases different chemicals, which may speed spoilage.
  • Question
Why should I use rubber bands to hold the herbs together?
    Community Answer
Rubber bands are just one option. You can use anything you'd like to hold the herbs together.
  • Question
Can oven-dried dill be stored in a canning jar instead of a tin?
    Community Answer
Yes. As long as the canning jar is airtight, it will work fine.
  • Question
How do you know if a canning jar is air tight?
    Community Answer
Add water to a clean, dry jar; any amount will do. Secure the lid tightly and turn the jar upside down. If no water escapes, it is indeed air tight. If water does leak, it is not air tight.
