  • Question
Could they hide it in my room?
    Community Answer
They could, but they probably wouldn't, because you'd be more likely to find it there. If there's a closet or something in your room that you never use, check there!
  • Question
What if I can't find any presents that are mine?
    Community Answer
Look harder. You can be sure they got you at least one present. Also, look in unpredictable places such as the closets. My parents used to hide presents in suitcases.
  • Question
How do I find gifts in a big house?
    Community Answer
Gather some friends, divide the rooms up among you, and get searching! It would be best to do this when your parents aren't home. But if they are home, just pretend you're playing hide and seek!
  • Question
My mom ordered something on Amazon, and I think I found a toy. It's in a bag with no openings. What should I do?
    Community Answer
WAIT for Christmas -- that's the best thing to do. Don't ruin the fun for yourself.
  • Question
I know where my presents are (on the top shelf of their closet), but I can't reach them. What should I do?
    CJ
    Community Answer
Maybe if your parent is in the shower or you are home alone, you could use a step ladder or a chair to reach the shelf. Be careful, though!
  • Question
Can the same things be used for birthday gifts?
    Community Answer
Yes, it can be used for any instance where gifts are involved.
  • Question
Will my parents even give me a Christmas present?
    Community Answer
Probably, as long as you're a good kid and they have enough money. Remember, having a loving family is a gift in itself!
  • Question
Could they be hiding them in my great aunt's house? She lives down the street.
    Community Answer
They might be, but don't go look or you'll spoil the surprise for yourself.
  • Question
My dad has Amazon and I can access it. Can I look there?
    Sineadxxlouise
    Community Answer
Yes, but you need to be careful. Your parents may look back at the browsing history!
  • Question
What if I look in the closet and I see my present?
    Community Answer
Just leave it alone. Don't touch anything in the closet or your parents might notice. Pretend to be surprised when they give it to you.
  • Question
What if my mom said that she got me presents, but I can't find anything?
    Community Answer
Then your mom is much better at hiding things than you give her credit for. I'm sure she got you presents, but hid them in places you'll never think to look. Don't worry, Christmas isn't too far away. You'll get to open them soon.
  • Question
I found boxes shipped to my house, and I know they're Christmas presents! How can I tell from the label what is in it?
    Community Answer
Try finding a company logo on the box or check the shipper's information to give you some ideas.
  • Question
How do I make sure the dog doesn't bark while I'm looking around for presents?
    Community Answer
Wait until the dog is in another room, outside, or asleep, or bring it a bone, favorite toy, or treat to distract it while you go look around.
  • Question
What if all of the presents are in my mom's locked closet and I don't have the key?
    Community Answer
Look for the key. If she keeps the key on her keyring, there might be a spare lying around. You could also try to pick the lock, but this could be easy or impossible, depending on what kind of lock it is. Otherwise, there's really no way to get into the closet unless she leaves the house without her keys, which is pretty unlikely.
  • Question
What should I do if I think someone is watching me?
    Community Answer
If you believe someone is watching you, don't go snooping around. Wait for another time, or just be surprised on Christmas.
  • Question
What if I found my presents but can't open the closet it's in because it will make a loud noise?
    Community Answer
You can wait until they aren't home to look again, but do not open them because you're parents must interrupt by coming back.
  • Question
Can I use harmless giveaway traps to alert me if someone is nearby?
    Community Answer
Sure, but be careful. Make sure that they are harmless, like delicately placed paper that would be tampered with if someone walked on it.
  • Question
Can I hide the present in my room and open it at night?
    Community Answer
I wouldn't recommend doing this since you'd have to re-wrap the gift, which could make it obvious that it was opened. Also, your parents could notice that the gift is missing before you get the chance to unwrap it.
  • Question
How do I know if a present is mine? Because I wanted it for my birthday, but it's Christmas and I just found it.
    Community Answer
If your birthday is in December or January, it could still be a birthday gift. Otherwise, it could be for a sibling, or your parents want to surprise you on Christmas Day!
  • Question
I tried to get to an Amazon box on a high shelf in my parents' closet, but Mom came out of the office and I ran out. She asked me if I was looking for presents. How do I get that box now?
    Community Answer
Deny anything she asks you about snooping, unless she has already found clear evidence of you snooping. If you were caught, apologize and accept any punishment without defiance. From now on, only search when you know your parent is on the other side of the house, like you are in the attic and she is in the basement. Also, try to do most of your work when you are home by yourself. You don't want to get caught again and risk losing your gifts.
  • Question
What if I find it and my mom comes to check on the present but I can't put it back without being loud?
    Community Answer
Confess. Say you wanted to see which were your gifts and that you're just feeling them for weight.
  • Question
How do I open up a bag and then seal it up again? I really want to know what my Christmas presents are!
    Community Answer
Opening and closing bags are as easy as pie! Just open up the bag, carefully remove the tissue paper, and admire your present. You don't need any special material for this, just careful fingers.
  • Question
I found my sister's present in my dad's office! Should I tell her?
    Mark Gray
    Community Answer
I wouldn't. Let her be surprised. You also don't know if she'll tell your dad that you found it.
  • Question
My sister and I used to tell each other what we found every year but then she started snitching. What do I do about that? And what do I do if one of my sisters catches me snooping around for presents?
    Gabriela Negrete
    Community Answer
Just do not look for presents. And if she has been telling on you, then tell on her as well if you feel comfortable doing so.
  • Question
I have an uncle who was really good at snooping for gifts when he was young. Should I ask him to help me?
    Community Answer
Yes. Be careful, though, as he could be acting as a double agent (as in, pretending he is helping you look when really he is acting as a decoy to help your parents hide the gifts). If a friend can help you, that's even better. But if you're confident in your relative's knowledge, then go ahead. They may actually know something helpful.
  • Question
My parents hide the presents in their closet and empty storage room in the room they sleep in and downstairs. How would I do this? Also I'm not home alone often.
    Community Answer
Try to do it while your parents are in the shower or mowing the lawn. However, there's a time limit, so to try to do it quickly. If you get caught, have an excuse ready for why you're in their room, such as that you wanted to find a hairbrush or something of theirs you need.
  • Question
I found a video game that I asked for in my parents’ closet. Can I sneak it out to play it when they’re not home as long as I put it back before they get home?

It's a very risky thing to do, but as long as the game's box isn't plastic wrapped or sealed with security stickers, this is still possible. Be on high alert to hide the evidence quick in case your parents come home early. You could also take just the disc/cartridge to play and leave the box in its hiding place, so if your parents unexpectedly wrap the box, you can just sneak the disc/cartridge back in the box on Christmas Day as if nothing happened.
