  • Question
I am at level 8, but still cannot find any diamonds. Any ideas?
    Artemi
    Top Answerer
Start making branches (tunnels 2 blocks high and 1 block wide) spaced 3 blocks apart. Since ore almost always spawns in veins of more than one block, this ensures that you don't miss anything. There are, on average, 3 diamonds in every chunk (16 x 16 square), so if you can't find anything, dig over 16 blocks and continue.

How to see how many layers l am at?
    Jeth Caneda
    Community Answer
Turn on your coordinates. These will help you find diamonds in the game as they will give you a clue which layer you are at. After you hit y=12 or y=11, find any exposed diamonds in the cave or try to strip mine near the lava if you don't see any. If your pick axe broke while strip mining, bring a crafting table and save some wood to convert these to planks then sticks.

I keep on digging at Level 12, but all I find is deepslate. What should I do? Besides, are diamonds more common in a certain biome?
    Ashlyn Martin
    Community Answer
I would suggest looking for lava pits in caves, (at that level as well). Make sure to bring a water bucket to place above the lava so you don’t die, and mine around the diamonds first to check if there’s any lava near it. Have a safe and lucky mining trip! ⛏
