You can, although I wouldn't recommend it. Most refrigerators have styrofoam insulation, and the hair dryer can melt that stuff if you aren't careful. It's much safer to use hot water.

Ice building up is going to be a big one. If the temperature isn't correct, that may be another sign. But the main symptom is going to be excess ice.

  • Question
What should I do if my fridge has water lying on top of the outside of it?
    Community Answer
If water is accumulating on the outside walls of the fridge and the top of it, it probably has to do with its location. Moisture naturally condenses in the fridge from the cold and forms ice, which melts during the defrost and drips through the drain into a compressor tray out the back. Finally, it evaporates from behind the fridge. A fan to ensure some airflow around the fridge might solve the problem. You can also minimize moisture by keeping it shut and in a dry area. If none of that helps, ask a technician to ensure the defrost clock is behaving as it should.
  • Question
How do I put the bottom front back on?
    Community Answer
There should be small opening in the bottom frame of the fridge, and tabs on the panel itself. Make sure that the tabs go into the slots, then push the top of the panel forward. Remember do not force it.
