  • Question
I'm awesome when I freestyle by myself, but in front of people I mess up. Can I stop this?
    Community Answer
Yes you can. Most likely, the reason why you mess up is because you are afraid of messing up, so you get side tracked and mess up on your upcoming rhyme. The easiest way to prevent messing up is by thinking of the next line of bars that you're going to say, but don't let that keep you from staying on rhythm. What i mean by that is, if you do, you don't always have to rap fast. you can rap slower, which will give you more time to think of a rhyme while freestyling. Most people rap fast and either end up saying jibberish, or saying something that doesn't make sense.

Don't try reading it -- just try to memorize parts of your song. Then, don't look at your written lyrics -- just imagine you never even saw them and then just go with it.
