Carefully lift the portion of hair with the gum and put the ice underneath the hair, so you're icing the gum. The gum should get hardened (you may need to retry the ice several times). Carefully try to use a comb but start combing from the ends until you reach the hardened gum. Try working it downward with the comb. If the gum is still gooey or tacky, you should try the ice longer. It helps to have another person help with combing. Remember not to lie on that section while any gum remains in the hair.
