  • Question
I'm 16 and a newbie. My sister told me to watch Fairy Tale, but I wonder if it's appropriate for someone my age, because she watches a lot of disturbing and sexual anime.
    Galaxy of Evolution
    Community Answer
Fairy Tale is perfectly fine, but there are some hentai videos about it online, so try to avoid those.
  • Question
I really like anime, but my mom kinda freaked out after seeing me watch "Yuri on Ice." She thinks it makes me gay that I like it. How to make her understand I'm not actually gay, just really liking it?
    Community Answer
Explain to your mom that it's just a good show, and just because you enjoy it, that doesn't make you gay - just as gay people can watch shows about straight people and it doesn't make them straight. Give examples of other shows you like that are not about gay people and tell her your interest in this one has nothing to do with the gay aspect.
  • Question
Will watching Boku No Pico online get me in trouble in Canada?
    Community Answer
It's unlikely, just as you wouldn't normally get caught for stuff like torrenting. If you're still skeptical, try watching it with a VPN.

  • Question
I am 10 and I watched Death note, is that okay?

Death Note has some pretty adult themes, and it's meant for older audiences. However, as long as you're fairly mature and understand the difference between fantasy and reality, it's probably fine.
  • Question
I want to get into anime, but I don't know where to look. I'd prefer nothing sexual or gory, and with no swearing. Suggestions?
    Polymorphic Potato
    Community Answer
Although anime tends to have a lot of swearing, slice of life anime seems to be the way to go. Try out School Babysitters. You'll have to watch it subbed, but it's great! If you want to get emotional, I suggest Violet Evergarden.
  • Question

    Jesse

  • Question
Is kissanime a legal website? Should I use it?
    iiAnnas Worldii

  • Question
How can my friends cry when they watch anime, but still not like anime?
    Community Answer
Depending on your friends, they might be determined to not like anime - in which case, they will not like it, no matter what. Ask them what they didn't like about the anime they were watching, and see what they say.
  • Question
Some of my peers are anime lovers, and I'd love to get involved, but I don't know how to start with all these animes and manga. How should I begin?
    FireDragonZero
    Community Answer
Watch the first few episodes of an anime your friend is watching and that you're interested in. When your friends group up and start talking about anime, you might tell them not-so-directly that you know something about the anime. If they ask how you knew that, say you came across it somewhere. Eventually, you'll become an official "anime fan squad" member, too.
  • Question
My friend is super into anime, and I'd like to get into it, too. She likes Cirque Du Freak, which doesn't seem my style. Any recommendations for beginner anime? Nothing scary; I get freaked out easily.

    Top Answerer
One suggestion is Studio Ghibli, which makes excellent anime movies suitable for viewers of all ages. They can be watched in the original Japanese audio with English subtitles or with English-dubbed voices (both of which are excellent). Some popular anime movies made by Studio Ghibli include: My Neighbor Totoro, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howls Moving Castle, just to name a few.
  • Question

Of course. You shouldn't be ashamed of your preference. Anime can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of the specific demographics established.
  • Question
Do I need to worry about KissAnime trying to redirect me to malicious or disturbing sites? There are a few animes I want to watch there, but I'm worried I'll put my computer at risk if I use it.
    Emoticon_ramen.
    Community Answer
No, not really. Usually the ads won't do anything to your computer unless you click on one of them. I've never clicked on them before, but I wouldn't recommend doing it, just in case. And if KissAnime does direct you to a website automatically, just exit it.

    Community Answer
I’d say 18+. Although there is little to no gore and blood, the sexual themes in it are inappropriate for immature audiences.
  • Question
My friend doesn't like anime because of one anime her sister showed her. She stopped my anime movie halfway through and said it was crap. How do I convince her to like it?
    Emoticon_ramen.
    Community Answer
Well, you can't really convince her to like anime, because that's her opinion, but maybe just tell her politely to respect your interests and the fact that you like anime. Maybe show her some anime from a genre of film that she likes, or a funny anime scene. But if she's totally against the idea, there's not much you can do about that.
  • Question
Will Hetalia actually ruin my life?
    Emoticon_ramen.
    Community Answer
Well, kinda. As a former Hetalia fan, it's a really funny show, and it made me actually enjoy world history, even though it wasn't always accurate. Some fans can be extremely toxic and make your life a bit miserable, though. So yeah, a small bit could be ruined.
  • Question
Is there anime from other countries, like Russia?

  • Question
    Why is Anime so sexist?
    Community Answer
That is a very subjective question. It really depends on the specific anime you are watching, and who made it. You might try doing an internet search for "non-sexist Anime" and see what comes up. Though, be aware that Anime in general is often criticized for being violent, explicit, or sometimes sexist, so you really just have to stay on your toes and find a specific Anime that YOU like.

Subtitles in many languages are available to watch for virtually all anime, so you are able to read and understand what they are saying while still hearing the original Japanese voice actors.
  • Question
I'm an 11-year-old girl, is One Piece okay for me to watch?
    Julia Montgomery
    Community Answer
Yes. From what I've heard, One Piece is a perfectly fine anime for an 11-year-old, since there aren't "inappropriate" scenes (only flirting for comedic purposes). There are fighting scenes that are sometimes intense, but never anything horrible. There is some light swearing, but again, nothing too terrible.
  • Question
I’ve started to watching anime a long time but was never into it. So could anime really be this great for other people b/c if so, what was it that people like it? Was the themes? Sad/happy moments?
    CLARISSA SWEETLAND
    Community Answer
It depends on the anime. If you've only seen anime like Naruto and Dragon Ball, it's understandable that you wouldn't like it. I am not fond of those shows, or really any shonen genre anime. Try some different genres! Some are: Sad: Clannad & Clannad Afterstory; Your Lie in April; Orange; Violet Evergarden; Happy/ Slice of Life: Lucky Star; The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya ; Disturbing/Horror/Psych Horror: Happy Sugar Life; Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary); Another; Erased; and those are just the very basics. do your research and find out what you like!
  • Question
What anime and manga are similar to Death Note? Where should I get Death Note action figures and posters (any Death Note toys in general)?
    Elan
    Community Answer
Another anime similar to Death Note is The Promised Neverland. It's similar in the way how it's psychological. If what you're looking for is "older boy trying to not get caught", then try watching Parasyte. A good place to get Death Note merch is Hot Topic, FYE, and Barnes and Noble. For shopping online, try Viz, Otaku Mode, Crunchy Roll, Atsuko, and Etsy.
  • Question

Modern cartoons use weird proportions, and anime uses more realistic proportions.
  • Question
My sister (who is 9) really wants to watch animes like Death Note. She is very mature, should she watch it or not?
    Amiandra
    Community Answer
Even a very mature 9 year old might not be able to understand Death Note and some of the themes might not be suitable. If she really wants to watch it, let her, but explain that it's meant for older people.
  • Question
I recently got my friend into anime but now that’s all she talks about. It’s getting annoying and I don’t know what to do. What should I do?
    Amiandra
    Community Answer
She seems to have found an interest she really likes and it's important to be happy for her that she has. If it's that much of a problem for you and it doesn't help to frequently change the subject, try talking to her about maybe talking about anime a little less and telling her how you feel. Although this might hurt her feelings, so try to suggest other things to talk about, not just tell her you don't want to always talk about anime.
