    Expert Answer
A healthy diet combined with exercise can help you stay fit. When you're planning your diet, remember you have to burn more calories than you take in. The biggest mistake that people make when they're trying to lose weight is that they don't achieve a calorie deficit. Even plans like low-carb diets, vegetarian diets, and intermittent fasting won't help you lose weight if you're consuming more calories than you burn each day.

    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
It's all about two numbers: caloric intake and caloric burn. Your belly does not shrink or increase after every meal, it's set in motion over time. The belly grows if due to stress or surplus calories your body decided to store energy as fat, and it shrinks if you eat less than you burn off. But there are too many factors to take such precise control that it neither grows nor shrinks. In all, if you eat less than you burn, you should stay roughly the same size.
