    Expert Answer
Do either sugaring or laser treatments. With sugaring, the hair is removed from the root each time. If repeat the sugaring every 6 weeks or so, over time, this makes the hair much finer and sparser. With laser hair removal, you'll have to do 6 or more sessions to see results, and typically after 8 or more sessions, the hair is significantly reduced.

It's actually more likely to make your hair thinner -- or not affect it at all.
  • Question
If I shave my arms, will it start to be permanently be stubby after time?
    Community Answer
Most likely. This can be reversed by waxing your arms, which, unlike shaving, will pull out the hair with the roots and allow brand new, non-stubby hair to form.
  • Question
Does waxing your arms hurt? How can I reduce the pain?
    Community Answer
Yes, it does. You can ice your arm or use a numbing cream.
  • Question
What if I have some skin conditions like acne on my arm? What can I do other that trim it?
    Community Answer
You can shave it, just be careful. If you see a professional to get it waxed they are trained to work around acne.
  • Question
Why are my arms so hairy?
    Community Answer
    Genetics.
  • Question
Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker?
    Community Answer
No. In fact, waxing causes your hair to become thinner over time. Shaving doesn't make your hair grow back thicker either, but it also doesn't thin the hair out.
  • Question
Will the hair on my arms grow back thicker if I shave?
    Community Answer
No, but I do recommend waxing as a better alternative. Every time you wax, your arm hair gets thinner when it regrows. If you do it once a month, in a year it will be gone!
  • Question
Which method out of these would be best for dark skin?
    Community Answer
Bleaching your hair will make your hair almost unnoticeable. Keep in mind that bleaching can also cause your skin to lighten for a few hours to a day.
  • Question
Once you trim your hair, will it grow back just like shaving your leg hair? Will it grow back thicker?
    Community Answer
It does not grow back thicker when you shave. The reason it seems thicker is because you are cutting off the hair shaft and it becomes blunt. When the blunt end grows in, it feels thicker. Cutting it will do the same, but not to the same extent.
  • Question
What if my parents don't allow me to wax or shave my arm but I really want to do it?
    Community Answer
If you want to disobey your parents and get into trouble, go ahead and shave it. You could also use dilatory cream, that way you don't have to shave or wax; just follow the instructions on the bottle. Furthermore, you could bleach the hair or use diluted hydrogen peroxide. You might have to do this several times before you see results.
  • Question
What is the best method for a 13 year old?
    Community Answer
The best method is probably just to shave it. If you're only 13, then waxing might hurt too much (though it is the most effective method if you can handle it), and your parents probably won't allow you to do electrolysis.
  • Question
What if my parents do not allow me to shave my arms?
    Community Answer
Ask them why, they may have a good reason. If they won't let you shave, ask if they will take you to a professional to be waxed.
  • Question
If I wax my hair, will it come back a different color?
    Community Answer
    No, it will not.
  • Question
What are the side effects of hair thinner?

You may burn your skin if you don't apply it properly. Follow the instructions every time.
  • Question
What If I'm only 11 and I have hairy arms, but I can't shave or wax and my mom won't buy me anything?
    Community Answer
Just wait it out, you are only 11, just wear longer shirts if you're feeling really insecure. There is nothing wrong with having arm hair, I guarantee nobody else notices.
  • Question
Will shaving make my arm hair thicker?
    Community Answer
No. This is a common misconception, but it doesn't make it grow back thicker.
  • Question
After shaving for so long, my arm hair has become so thick it pokes me. What can I do to thin my hair out?
    Community Answer
If you switch to waxing or wax in between shaving, it should stop the hair from growing back thick and pokey. Switching to waxing altogether will actually cause your hair to grow back thinner, and if you wax every month for about a year, the hair hair will naturally grow significantly thinner permanently.
  • Question
If I laser the hair on my arms, will it come back?
    Community Answer
After multiple treatments at a professional clinic, it should disappear over time. It usually happens over a span of 2-3 months.
  • Question
Will bleaching your arm hair make it more noticeable on dark skin?
    Community Answer
It depends on how dark your skin is. If you have a semi-dark skin tone it might make it a bit noticeable. Try using a slightly darker bleach color so it can look natural but still mainly unseen.
  • Question
My parents said I couldn't do this, but I did anyway. What should I do now?
    Community Answer
Well, first of all, you should come clean. Tell them that you were scared that they would say no. Your parents need to know that you meant no harm.
  • Question
I shaved my arms and didn't like it. It's growing back straight up and prickly. I want to keep it short, but still have hair. What do I do?
    Community Answer
Just wax once a month, it really helps! It regrows thinner as you keep on waxing. Stop when you think your hair is thin enough.
  • Question
How old do I have to be to use depilatory cream?
    Community Answer
You can use it at the age of 12. Just remember to follow the instructions and if you don't, it can cause a serious chemical burn. Test it out on a very small part of your skin to make sure it doesn't cause any irritation. Also make sure you have an adult's permission if you're under 16.
  • Question

I've been bleaching my arm hair with Sally Hansen extra strength cream hair bleach for about 5 years. My hair is definitely thinner, finer and softer.
  • Question

    Community Answer
Follow the instructions on the box.
  • Question
I'm only 13 and I don't want to wax my arms or shave them. What's my best option?
    Community Answer
Bleaching is quick, easy, and painless if you have dark hair. The hair will still be there, but it will be much less noticeable.
  • Question
My dark arm hair won't bleach blonde. What can I do?
    Community Answer
You may wax or shave your arm hair to remove it, but you will not be able to make it lighter if bleach isn't working.
  • Question
Can I use a normal hand lotion?
    Community Answer
For bleaching, no. Lotion won't affect your arm hair, it will just make your arms softer.
  • Question
Will I grow arm hair thicker if I trim with a machine. What if I shave with a blade?
    Community Answer
If you tweeze or wax it, it will appear thinner when it grows back. If you trim or shave it, it will appear thicker. However, the actual thickness of your arm hair will not change.
  • Question

    Community Answer
Yes, but get it as close to the roots of your arm hairs as possible to get a better result.
