Using white noise through a filter using automation to open and close the filter over every 8 bars. Use a high simple string patch mixed way back usually the root not of the key you are writing in. Reverb with a long release with a subtle sidechain. Watch the reverbs in complex areas, or you'll end up with mud. Most producers automate the reverb tails and eq very carefully.
